Reservoir & UV Treatment Facility

As part of the City of Powell River Drinking Water system upgrade, Vancouver Ready Mix has been contracted by Maple Reinders Inc. to supply ready mix concrete for the Powell River Reservoir and UV Treatment facility project.

This $8.5 million project includes a water storage reservoir at Haslam Lake, an UV disinfection facility, new transmission pipeline and a water main connection to Wildwood.  The project is underway and consists of approximately 3,500 cubic metres of concrete for the variety of mix designs for the project.

Having schedule demands for this project ranging from 25 metres per day up to 400 metres per day requires a flexible and responsive plant. The VRM mobile plant is capable of producing over 125 meters per hour, with a 58 ton silo and a 75 ton auxiliary silo, 3 bins, admixture tanks, hot water tanks, 100 hp diesel engine for power and control.  This system is ideal for this large, remote project.

The utilization of the mobile plant is key to keeping the costs in-line with the project budget and brings a multitude of eco-friendly elements to a big construction site.  Having the plant at the construction site keeps the mixer trucks off the long haul routes savings in gas, energy and emissions.
